It's one of nintendos stupid money making tactics. If they don't release it for D/P, even though we all know full well they can, I think hacking it shouldn't be illegal.

In your Platinum game, you can take Shaymin to Floraroma Town to gain access to the Gracidea in order to change it to its sky form.

do you need to have the national pokedex to get shaymin can you have the regular pokedex

1st you need the national dex.
2nd you have to beat the elite 4 to get to where shaymin is.
says so on the pokemon platinum website first page talking about shaymin and professor oaks letter.

when you said "you will receive your new member card" dont you mean Oaks letter? wasnt the member card for the darkrai event? anyways do you(or anyone else) know what time the event will start(its 4am EST right now for me) thanks

I woke up this morning expecting the event. Turns out the 28th comes to Australia before everyone else

Shameless edit 2: Just found a bug on the way to Oak, when you beat the first fighting trainer you find, he replies with a bunch of letters and spaces. Lol.
