Having hard time catching lake pokemon

ok I have had the worst time trying to catch the legendary lake pokemon.I first tryed mesprit and it turned out horrible and then azelf and the battle lasted half an hour and couldnt catch it.I dont want to use my master ball and I dont want to kill it either BUT I need to see it.Azelf is the only pokemon I havent seen other then burmy.If someone could battle me with them in their party that would be nice or if you could just give some advice on catching them that would help too. I went into a battle with 30 ultra balls agains Azelf and couldnt catch it.Oh yes and the only pokemon that knows sing is my cleffa, lvl. 12.

Well a wifi battle doesnt give you the information on it.
And my trick which surprisingly works sometimes is to leave the Pokemon really weak, use sing, throw a ultra ball (or whichever you wanna use), and leave the room right when you throw it.
Then when you come back it might be caught.
Idk why or how this works for me.
It took me like an hour to catch Azelf though.
And Heatran is way worse.

I'll battle you with the three pokes. And yes...they are pretty **** hard to catch. Especially Mesprit...:p

Use dusk balls there great against them

get a pokemon that can paralyze it... thats the easiest way i catch legendary pokemon but i havent gotten up to any of the lakes yet so i dont know.... i hate catching legendaries it takes forever but its so worth it catching it without usinjg a master ball

First, you should go out looking for Uxie; which is the easiest to catch since it'll withstand most of the hits done to it.

Second, go for Azelf. He's the hardest Lake Legend to catch. Have a Steel, Psychic, or anything that resist to Psychic. If you're pokemon are lower level then him, go train, no contest.

Third; when searching for Mesprit, head down to Jubilife City. Go up and down, out of the city and back in until it gets to the west side of the Jubilife city(Between Canavale City and Jubilife city). That's the only place where it wont disappear once you go to another area.

Carry alot of Timer balls. 30-40 would be find and have a Haunter w/ Mean look. Golbat works fine, too. :]
