The originals weren't diluted with extras and bonuses and a crap load of legendaries.

I like D/P for its excessive legendaries, sidequests, plus theres tons of stuff to do even after you beat the league. But my favorite is still and will always be Gold. Great sprites, great pokemon, fun game. Plus once you beat jhoto you take the boat to kanto and you fight and get 8 more badges. So the game has 2 leagues and 16 badges! Thats friggen awsome!
