From what I read, I guess you can but the new pokemon will get hurt.

You get you friend's Friend Code, and give him yours. Add them to your Pal Pad. Go to a Pokemon Center, go downstairs and talk to the ladies on the left side. You'll both have to be connected through them on WiFi in order to see each other. Then, invite to trade.

Do you have the Pal Pad yet?

im confirming that it only hurts the pokemon switching in

ok. someone told me that there shiny drifblim was legal and i didn't believe them... i guess its possible after all.
