Legendary List, a flaw I do believe. -
07-24-07
Thank you Chris, Sockpuppet, Jevon, Tag, Hyuuga112, and others who I may have forgotten for helping with this.
So I was reading up on The Uber List and The Official Friendcodes Pokemon League. I noticed a few things that baffled me, and I figured I'd let friendcodes answer this.
The thread for The Uber List:
The uber list states that the pokemon below are ubers. They left out Arceus, which I believe is okay, since he's an event and unable to be obtain legitimately. - Mewtwo - 680 Reason: High stats
- Lugia - 680 Reason: High stats
- Ho-Oh - 680 Reason: High stats
- Rayquaza - 680 Reason: High stats
- Dalgia - 680 Reason: High stats
- Palkia - 680 Reason: High stats
- Giratina - 680 Reason: High stats
- Kyogre - 670 Reason: High stats
- Groudon - 670 Reason: High stats
- Mew - 600 Reason: Can learn any TM/HM
- Latias - 600 Reason: Move Pool, Soul Dew
- Latios - 600 Reason: Move Pool, Soul Dew
- Deoxy - 600 Reason: Move pool, Slightly above averaget stats
- Darkai - 600 Reason: Move pool, stats
Now that seems fine and Dandy to me, 'till I saw a few others. [Slaking isn't on this list due to him being able to attack every other move. His base stats are 670, though.] - Regigigas - 670 Reason:Slow start
- Dragonite - 600 Reason:4x weakness to Ice
- Tyranitar - 600 Reason:4x weakness to Fighting
- Salamence - 600 Reason:4x weakness to Ice
- Metagross - 600 Reason: Kicking it old school, OU
- Garchomp - 600 Reason:4x weakness to Ice
Why state the other fourteen for having a base stat of 600, and not these six? The only thought that comes to mind is the status that they carry: being legendary. If this is the case, then they should just be called 'legendary' and not 'uber', since there wouldn't be anything uber about them.
Next thread, The Official Friendcodes Pokemon League.
I was reading through on the illegal pokemon. Their list was similar but had the following pokemon included: - Celebi - 600 Reason: Awful typing
- Jirachi - 600 Reason: Restricting move pool
- Heatran - 600 Reason: Earthquake is fairly common-- OU
- Cresselia - 600 Reason: More defensive, much like blissy-- OU
- Manaphy - 600 Reason: Too averaged out, but still deadly-- OU
- Shaymin - 600 Reason: Too averaged out, but still deadly-- OU
The reason was, and I quote

My question is this, how are they considered too powerful when we have these six pokemon with the same base stat as the other non-legendary pokemon? Maybe I'm not looking deeper into, such as move pool, weaknesses, etc etc. However, the only plausible answer I can form, once again, is that they're considered legendary. I'd like for someone to correct me if I'm wrong. Please go into detail about this, if you can.
** sources for stats
ALSO, don't answer with the following - LOL JUST BECUZ K?LOLOLKSDJKE
- BUZ THEY SUK
- Another other stupid remark
- Any answer that is not coherent

That's a good question.
* Regigigas - Has the ability "Slow Start" making him suck. =P (Attack and Speed are halved for the first 5 turns. He will simply not stay alive that long.)
* Dragonite - 4x weakness to ice.
* Tyranitar - 4x weakness to fighting.
* Salamence - 4x weakness to ice.
* Metagross - I really do not know about this one.
* Garchomp - 4x weakness to ice.
I'm guessing because of the 4x weaknesses...

Thank you so much for making this clear to people. I've been meaning to post something similar for quite a while, but even if I ever got around to it I doubt it would've had quite the style and hard sources yours does. Great job, and being the enemy of overused Pokemon I am, thank you for this. Hopefully something will be done about it on Friendcodes.

Well, I just today convinced people that Regigigas should have been removed from the list due to its trait Slow Start. With regards to the others, I believe the original list was from another website and was simply displayed here, similar to the overused/neverused list.

She's talking about the uber list, not the OU/UU list. I'd also like to point out that I think those Pokemon should be considered uber. I was just trying to give a reason why they possibly aren't. (My reason was terrible, BTW.) ;P

What about the reason Celebi, Jirachi, Heatran, Cresselia, Manaphy, Shayman, Latias, Latios, Deoxy, and Darkai?

Agreed. xD Though either way that 'Never Used' and 'Underused' list from whatever site that was is horrible - at least on friendcode's standard sights, it's not horribly accurate.

Did you see the old one, or the updated one? I thought the new one was pretty good... =|

Mew, Celebi and all those are that way because their stats allow them to take on any role such as a Physical Sweeper or a Tank. With 100 base stats in each stat, the pokémon can be anything or everything. It's just a fact. While such pokémon may be "weak" in some people's eyes, their ability to learn any move for example like Mew makes them good, or LAtias and LAtios using a Soul Dew makes them super strong too, and along with their good traits like Levitate and Natural Cure, they've become simple and easy to use.
Now you may be thinking, why isn't Claydol on that list or Flygon or such pokémon, it's just because they don't have the power and potential to gain anything from their trait. I hope this explains some things. ;)
Have an idea for a review or guide? Then PM me the guide and I will do my best to review it!

Shido is God (Yes capital G...... for...ummmm graphic?) for making this sig!

They're not going to be perfect 100s across the board. You have to include EV training and nature. That will cause their role to shift.

Both Latias and Latios have Natural cure.
Natural Cure: Chansey, Staryu, Sarmi, Corsola, Blissey, Rosella, Swablu, Happiny, Roserade, Budew, and Altaria
When they're holding a Soul Dew, it only increases their Special Attack and Defense by 50%. That would be about
Latios- Attack 260, Defense 220
Latias- Attack 220, Defense 260
They don't even make it to the top 100.
