Slowly, slowly building my team -
10-30-07
So, I've made almost half a team now, so I just wanted to see what people thought of what I had so far and what I might add to help balance my team out. Granted, I have some ideas of my own, I could still use some input.
Charizard w/ focus slash
255 attack, 255 speed, Lonely
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Fire Fang
Shadow Claw
Not great IVs, but I wanted to see how he worked out with the moveset before I became commited to finding a DD/outrage charizard with good IVs for it.
Armaldo @ Life Orb
Adamant
4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 HP
Battle Armor
-Brick Break
-Rock Slide / Rock Blast
-Earthquake
-X-Scisso
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Evs In Hp and Def
Relaxed Nature
Heatproof
Confusion Ray
Psychic
Rest
Flash Cannon
Dusknoir
255 in def/spec. def Relaxed/Sassy
Pain Split
Pay Back
fire punch
thunder punch
Vaporeon Bold
255 HP/Def
Toxic
Wish
Aqua Ring
Baton Pass
Glaceon
255 hp/Spec. Attack Modest
Icy Wind
Mirror Coat
Water Pulse
Shadow Ball
I know that the species clause can screw me with Glaceon and Vaporeon and I'm not sure I'ma keep both of them, anyway. Glaceon is really just there cause I always wanted to train an ice type and all the first gen ones seemed.... pathetic.
The general Idea with Vaporeon is to Toxic, Aqua Ring, Wish, then Batonpass to Dusknoir, who could tank out while doing decent damage, and recover more HP with painsplit after the switch. Charizard and Glaceon are both sweepers, pretty much.
Just need one more incase someone wants to invoke that stupid species clause. Also, as a side note, I have only really trained Charizard at this point, and still need to breed for the Dusknoir's painsplit and ominous wind.
My Steady Team:
Torterra
Rotom
Garchomp
Glaceon
Heatran
6th Man Swing Member(s) Bronzong Dialga Kingdra (in-training)

psh, and here, i was thinking atleast ONE person would toss me an idea by now :0P
So anyways, I did get an idea for a 5th team member.
Armadlo
255 HP/attack any +attack nature
Cross Poison
X-Scissor
Rock Slide
Rapid Spin/Metal Claw
Relatively few weaknesses, decent attack stats and a good type spreed to help me feel out coverage.

Well about your Dusknoir... Bad 3 moves... Dusknoir is more of a defense tank not really good at attack... Teach it um payback, keep pain split & see if u can get destiny bond in there some where. And for its 4th move hmm. how bout willowisp or toxic..

ominous wind = surprise or something?
shadow punch is a learned move, and it's physical, so it'll have more power than ominous wind if you're not putting any EV's into special attack... (not to mention a reducing nature)
I guess it ups some stats sometimes, so I guess it's your choice in the end.
a good addition might be a defensive wall. skarmory is an OU one that's a candidate in this case, (except it gives electric types nearly free reign over your team...) or you could add in something like Flygon if you need the type coverage. (electric resistance + ground resistance + sandstorm resistance?)
hm... I dunno. zangoose maybe? :P

It's attack isn't that bad.

I've been planning on using this for a while, but forgot about it since I didn't have an Anorith/Armaldo to breed with.

Actualy, my general idea came from the first stratagy from serebii's pokemon of the week. Unlike dusclops, Dusknoir has a beefed up base attack power of 100, and 299 wouldn't be half bad for a trained physical hit. It was built more to hold out against a already toxiced opponent from my vaporeon, while picking up a tiny bit of hp from the aqua ring till it wore off.

See, i was having a hard time thinking between rock blast and rock slide. I dislike the accuracy on stone edge, so it kinda had me feeling off. I also personaly prefer single move attacks, but I haven't tried one in a while. Earthquake makes a great choice, though. I'll probably try rock blast first, since I save a tm that way. I'm not so sure if I like the rock polish, though. I'll have to roll that around in the back of my head. I might maybe do it like this instead:

That would give him decent coverage against 2 of his 3 weaknesses, leaving only water pokemon to be feared.
I must admit, I have never been good at making physical walls. Which is probably why vaporeon is the only poke on my whole team without a straight up attack type strategy. What would be a good moveset for a wall in Zangoose or Flygon?

Rock Polish so that it can attempt to sweep. It gets 378 speed after a Rock Polish, and that outspeeds anything that has a base 120 or lower. Also, there aren't many physical water walls, and anything that's a bulky water gets owned by Stone Edge and Earthquake.

Why would you want Zangoose or Flygon to be a wall? They have crappy defenses. Also, here is my Armaldo moveset:
Armaldo @ Quick Claw
Evs In Atk and Hp
Adamant Nature
Swords Dance
Rock Slide
Earthquake
X-Scissor
Armaldo oringinally has a low speed, and Evs in it won't do too much. I'm thinking of making the best use of his great Attack, and using a Quick Claw to make up for the low speed. After a Swords dance, an X-Scissor can OHKO many things. Also, it probably can pull off a Swords dance, since Armaldo has above average defense, and Evs in HP.
As for the rest of your team, it is pretty good. If you want a good tank, try a Snorlax, or a Bronzong. Those are great, and you can easily make a good moveset that works for them. Heres one for Snorlax:
Snorlax @ Leftovers/Chesto Berry
Evs In Spc.Def and Hp
Careful Nature
Thick Fat over Immunity
Return
Crunch
Curse
Rest
Bronzong @ Leftovers/Quick Claw
Evs In Hp and Def
Impish Nature
Levitate over the other ability
Calm Mind
Psychic
Rest
Flash Cannon
Since you have Evs in both def and Hp, I doubt ANY physical hit could kill you. And Calm Mind boosts your Spc.def and Spc.atk, making it even more deadly.
