The game is a spiritual successor to 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for the Nintendo DS. Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward is a visual novel game where players have to make choices of whether to cooperate or betray the nine primary characters in the game in order to survive.
