RMT - My first competitive team - 04-26-09

These would all be raised in Emerald but could possibly be my Platinum team if I decide to get it. Probably needs a bit/lot of work but I've been thinking about and improving this team for a while now. I havn't started building it yet, the last thing I want is to have to change a boatload of things after its finished. Anyways, a mix of UU, BL, and OU pokes, here is my team to be:

Arcanine @ not sure what item yet
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Naive
Moveset:
-Flamethrower
-Roar
-Extremespeed
-Iron tail

Probably something unique, not sure. Didn't do to much research on Arcanine, I wanted to come up with a moveset all my own. Not sure I did though. Anyways, with a possible speed of 317, I figured I could let it roar away any pokemon it can't fight well and attack against ones it can. Flamethrower for STAB. Intimidate in case I face a strong physical lead, I could survive a hit to roar it away if Arcanine can't fight it well. Otherwise I would use extremespeed to garuntee a first and strong strike, especially considering Arcanine can have 350 attack. A problem I see would be, for one Starmie but then I would either switch or use extremespeed and accept the loss considering Starmie and fair few other pokemon can outspeed Arcanine.

Meganium @ Leftovers (Opened to be changed)
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Timd/Bold or any recommendations
Moveset:
-Toxic
-Leech seed
-Ingrain
-Giga drain

Still debating on what nature to use, as well as if ingrain and leech seed can both be obtained on one Meganium but I'm 95% sure it can be. Anyways, to set up, use a leech seed since it can benefit the entire team afterwards. Toxic to stall any pokes that get annoying, ingrain can stop Phazers along with healing abilities. With this set, Meganium has the potential to heal over 100 HP each turn. Might be replaced with a faster pokemon.

Heracross @ Choice band/Choice scarf
Ability: Guts
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
-Brick break
-Megahorn
-Earthquake
-Rock slide

A physical sweeper. Choice band and choice scarf can increase attack, though scarf gives him much better speed. Guts can give Heracross a huge attack bonus when coupled with the choice items and STAB. Only problem here is that I play Emerald making Choice scarf unobtainable. Not much more I can say here.

Lapras @ Shell bell
Ability: Water absorb
Nature: Modest
Moveset:
-Surf
-Ice beam
-Confuse ray
-Thunderbolt

Set up with confuse ray to possibly inflict extra damage, along with helping prevent Lapras from taking damage, allowing it to heal if it had with the shell bell. Possibly could be replaced with Starmie for more speed and better sweeping prowess.

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick fat
Nature: Brave
Moveset:
-Rest
-Sleep talk
-Shadow ball
-Body slam

Sleep talking snorlax. Brave nature to utilize as much attack strength as possible at a sacrifice of speed which Snorlax really doesn't need. Use to be Tyranitar before I change to Snorlax to cover my weaknesses to special moves. Thick fat to further protect from special fire and ice moves. Shadow ball for ghost types and body slam for STAB and a chance to paralyze.

Dragonite @ Scope lens
Ability: Inner focus
Nature: Lonely
Moveset:
-Dragon claw/Outrage
-Aerial ace/Fly
-Thunder wave
-Earthquake

Lonely nature to reach at or close to its max of 403 attack. I'm thinking dragon claw for the lack of confusion status, aerial ace for speed and a one turn use. Thunder wave to cripple sweepers and to allow dragonite the first move. Earthquake for strength and for taking out pokemon that resist dragon and flying moves.

I'm not completely sure about the EV spreads just yet so suggestions on those would be great. Also suggestions for the items some should or if I should replace some. Also suggestions on pokemon I should add/remove. Thanks in advance.

Re: RMT - My first competitive team - 04-28-09

im going to go over this one by one, and im assuming that you havent played DPPt before:
aracanine, i think life orb is a good item for him. Also, if hes your lead, intimidate really is a great way to start. In DPPt, arcanine gains moves like thunderfang, and flareblitz, which helps him out a lot.

i cant really say much abt meganium, since im not used to using one.. btw, sludge bomb is a move to consider

heracross: either choice is good, just depends on ur style. I think this moveset is better:
CLOSE COMBAT(better than brick break, trust me)
Megahorn
STONE EDGE
EQ

this bug is feared in the metagame.

Lapras, i guess it could work..

Snorlax, shadow ball is now a special attack, so its better to go with crunch here. Standard sleep talker

dragonite, arguably one of the most powerful pokemon of all time. my favorite set up on him is this:
Dragonite@life orb/leftovers
adamant/jolly, 252 atk 192 spe 64 hp
outrage
eq
dragon dance
fire punch/stone edge

flying moves on dragonite are not really advisable since thunderpunch, ice punch and fire punch have now all been made to physical attacks, so combined with dragonites godly attack, nothing can really resist this beast after dancing. Thunderwave is a viable option, only if you are planning to use this more of a support dragonite.

im assuming that you dont know much about the changes in dp, so i suggest going to serebii.net for info concerning the changes in DPPt.

hope this helped!!

Actually I had known about all the change in DP but this team was going to be for Emerald only until I got Platinum which I was going to build a different team.

Thanks for the information, useful for my next team. Thanks.
