getting through the game - hows my team doin?

so i just got platinum at the beginning of the month. it is my first Pokemon game since silver. so im new to almost all of these Pokemon. ive been training my team since the beginning and i want you guys to give me any advise as to what i should do / continue doing with my team...

Empoleon, Luxray, and Staraptor are, to me, the stars of my team. Onix can be from time to time, Kadabra i feel can become amazing once it evolves (neone wanna help with that?), and idk about Kricketune. Or about having a bug on my team at all...

as to where i am in the game, i just arrived in celestic town and recieved surf after beating the galactic boss guy. I guess im on my way to canalave city as cynthia mentions at the end of the battle.

Well since you're just battling through the game and not doing it for competitive battling the only thing I suggest is to remove Krickitune and replace it for something stronger such as a snover when you get one. You can only catch them when you're on your way to Snowpoint City after you get through Mt. Coronet which shouldn't be too long after Canalave cause you then have to go battle at the lake closest to Pastoria and then you have to head north to help your friend at the northern lake. On your way there catch one, they should be in the level 30s or so and they are a grass/ice type that evolve into Abomasnow, and are pretty powerful. My recommended moves for it are ice shard, Blizzard, Razor leaf, and Wood Hammer. When you catch it it should already know Ice shard and at lvl 36 learns Wood Hammer. At lvl 40 it evolves into Abomasnow and then learns Blizzard at lvl 47, or you could wait to evolve Snover to lvl 41 where it learns Blizzard sooner. Razor Leaf will be the only move that it won't learn through evolution as it will have learned it at lvl 5 and will have forgotten it by the time you catch it and you will need a heart scale to reteach it by going to Pastoria City and talking to the man in the house closest to the little pond in town. That's the set I used for my Abomasnow in Pearl and it really worked.:)

I used Infernape and gyarados to beat the entire game lol no joke as for your team.

I just felt like telling you that if you want a steelix so bad just catch one in iron island since you only get metal coat after beating the E4.
Kircketune hmmm. I really never got to understand that guy.
anyways why dont you try sing + Perish song it works well in-game since the AI is
Stupid.
And please try your best NOT to repeat a single type on your pokemon Ex.
Its better to run empoleon with this set IMO.
Surf/Agility/Grass knot/Ice beam.
If you only have water type moves how do you expect to beat grass types especially in a situation where empoleon is your last pokemon and you dont have recovery items.
