He's playing the OU tier with UU and below for the most part, that's pretty bad. Having a UU counter-part for the OU's in there cut him off from being in there.

Magneton is a good choice, as well as Drifblim and Magmortar

Rhyperior also lowers SE hits substantially so it's able to survive somewhat better, and even then, Rhyperior is probably on it's way to the UU due to all of the Water and Grass attacks that inhabit the OU.
