    Under Pressure: A Successful RMT

Hi Folks! So after seeing the recent usage data by Smogon/PO, it got me thinking. One of the top strategies in this metagame is Sand Stall and Rain. So, I decided to create a team that can counter those types of teams, and my team has had decent success. Suggestions/Comments always welcome :-) So, without further ado: Under Pressure

The goal of this team was to keep constant pressure on the opponent. The goal is to not let up and just keep hammering the opponent. Since the goal of the team is to force predicted switches, my team doesn't focus on boosting/hazards/winning weather war. So, I decided to base my team around two great pokes who have perfect synergy:

Rotom-W and Metagross have perfect synergy and compliment each other. Now I decided to have something flexible that is covered by both of their typings:

Mienshao's hit and run style goes perfectly with Rotom-W with Volt Switch creating the Popular VoltTurn and his psychic/flying weakness is covered by both Meta and Rotom.

Now, I needed something that could threaten Sand and Drizzle teams, right away:

Virizion's Grass/Fighting typing keeps many pokes on edge, specificially Politoed, Tyranitar, Abomasnow, Terrakion, Cobalion, etc.

Now, I needed a rapid spinner since I do have 2 pokes that are affected by toxic spikes and I needed something that can be bulky:

Tentacruel is a great addition and covers many weaknesses; Poison, Ice, Fire, Water, Steel, Bug (Scizor specifically)

    Last, but not least, I need a heavy hitter to do some damage;

Dragonite is here who's weaknesses are perfectly covered by Rotom-W/Metagross Core.

    Down to details:

    Rotom-W@Choice Scarf
    Levitate
    Timid Nature
    4 HP/ 252 Sp Attack/ 252 Speed
    -Volt Switch
    -Trick
    -Hydro Pump
    -Hidden Power Ice

This is my lead 98% of the time. It has BoltBeam and can cripple the obvious switch ins with Choice Scarf. If a Gyarados Lead is there, most of the time they will switch out to Gliscor/Ferrothorn which choice scarf cripples them the rest of the match. Threatens Sand/Drizzle outright.

    Metagross@Choice Band
    Clear Body
    Adamant Nature
    252 HP/ 252 Attack/ 4 Def
    -Bullet Punch
    -Meteor Mash
    -Hammer Arm
    -Zen Headbutt

Metagross, I haven't seen as much lately. But, with great bulk, typing and attack it's a powerhouse. Bullet Punch/Meteor Mash for those Ice/Rock pokes. Zen Headbutt is specifically for Conkeldurr. Hammer Arm is for Ferrothorn/Scrafty. Meta loves to switch in on Dragon types locked into outrage and go for the meteor Mash boost. Great typing allows him to switch in easily.

    Mienshao@Life Orb
    Regenerator
    Naive Nature
    252 Attack/ 4 Sp Attack/ 252 Speed
    -Fake Out
    -U-Turn
    -Hi Jump Kick
    -Hidden Power Ice

Typical Mienshao. U-Turn is complimented by Rotom-W's Volt Switch for VoltTurn combo. Hi jump Kick is self explanatory. And HP Ice is for Gliscor/Dragons. I usually save HP Ice making the opponent think that I'm running a pure physical set, but then hit hard when I get a chance.

    Virizion@Light Clay
    Justified
    Jolly Nature
    252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 Speed
    -Taunt
    -Reflect
    -Light Screen
    -Close Combat

I know people are saying this isn't SD or CM Virizion. This is Bluffizion. I bluff an aggressive set to run a Dual Screen + Taunt. Just the mere presence alone and the versatility to go physical/special or mixed threatens Politoed, Tyranitar, Rotom-W and Gastrodon. With 91/ 72/ 129 defenses and max speed, it is easy to get both screens up. Close Combat is for Heatran/Tyranitar specifically

    Tentacruel@Black Sludge
    Liquid Ooze
    Bold Nature
    252 HP/ 220 Def/ 36 Speed
    -Toxic Spikes
    -Rapid Spin
    -Scald
    -Hail

This is my most favorite Rapid Spinner. With the ability to absorb toxic spikes, lay them down, rapid spin, cripple physical attackers with Scald, it's great. Hail is to control weather after the weather inducer is KOed. I don't want Terrakion getting the 50% Sp Def boost and Landorus getting the Sand Force Boost.

    Dragonite@Lum Berry
    Multiscale
    Adamant Nature
    4 HP/ 252 Attack/ 252 Speed
    -Dragon Dance
    -Outrage
    -Fire Punch
    -Roost

This Dragonite is made to hit hard, without the need to boost. Adamant nature + Outrage/Fire Punch is near universal coverage. If I need a late game cleaner or to pick off Ferrothorn/Forretress, this is my poke. After a Dragon Dance, Outrage 2HKO most Heatran.

So, this is my under pressure team, comments are welcome!

Why don't you have Tenta use Rain Dance instead of Hail? You can use the other ability Tenta has and gain more HP rather than losing thanks to Hail. It also boosts up your Scald and Rotom's Hydro Pump.

I don't understand how your team doesn't suffer greatly against threats like Volcarona which sets up on 4/6th of your team and has unlimited switch ins with no SR on your team. On that note sun teams also seem to ravage through your team quite easily. Dragonite is you best check but with that set fails to deal with threats like Heatran in the sun and is not fast enough to outspeed Chlorophyll abusers / other choice scarf users at +1.

Re: Under Pressure: A Successful RMT

Wow a lot of comments lol. Let me take this one at a time
    1. Metagross has a x4 resistance to psychic so overall weakness comes to x2 psychic. Physical hits like cb bullet punch obliterates alakazam and hydro pump/ volt switch can hurt reuniclus before and calm minds.
    2. As for volcarona, I have options, 1. Id trick the choice scarf/taunt it with virizion. Can set up dragonite which will hit for neutral damage on volcarona. And I do have toxic spikes for it too.
    3. Hail on tenta is to have neutral weather. Tenta doesn't fear blizzards. Neither does rotom or meta. But all 3 fear sun, which is why I need a neutral weather, not rain or sun.
    4. Liquid ooze is to stop the typical celebi/conkeldurr/ferrothorn from using hp draining moves. Which hurts them all the same letting me change weather/rapid spin or set up spikes

I think you would be fine with Rain Dance over Hail, tbh. You should keep in mind that Hail inflicts damage per turn on all three aforementioned Pokemon.

Ill try the rain dance over hail, I just didn't want to be at the mercy of rain teams. But then again I guess between virizion rotom tenta and dragonite, water attacks aren't too bad. My only quirk was dealing with jirachi in the rain. In hail, I can do some serious damage to jirachi and then pick it off between mienshao/rotom.

But I def want to keep liquid ooze. That ability hurts so many pokes reliant on hp recovery moves. The only poke I was iffy on the entire time was dragonite. My other option I was considering was mixape with overheat/u turn/ close combat and stone edge with a life orb. That was my original poke but I switched it to dragonite.

anything that sets up is gonna cause this team trouble.
Dragonite/Haxorous/Volcornoa/and a lot of other pokemon that carries some boost stat move.
and i say keep a grass stab move on virizion. leaf blade is gonna way more useful than taunt in the long run.
