    Attempting a come-back.

    Hello there and Welcome.
I've been out of competitive battling for over 2 years now and I never had much luck at winning anyway, but I'd like to have another go and see what Generation 5 (Part 2) has thrown out there.

I'm interested in using a Rain team at the moment because I'm quite interested in using Tornadus-T, however I also want to run a quite defensive type team as well so I tried to incorporate both of those traits into this when I made it.

Any changes I make will be in red and bold

    Politoed @ Leftovers
    Ability: Drizzle
    EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
    Bold Nature
    - Scald
    - Toxic
    - Perish Song
    - Protect

This guy is obviously the star of the team due to his ability. He's pretty standard as the bulky set but I'm hoping I could use him late game to trap the last Pokémon in and use Perish Song giving me the win.

    Dragonite @ Leftovers
    Ability: Multiscale
    EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
    Adamant Nature
    - Dragon Dance
    - Outrage
    - Extremespeed

    - Earthquake

I was thinking "What resists Grass moves" and I thought that I'd need a dragon type so here it is. Dragonite has never really been my favourite and I've never really used it, I always went for Salamence normally but I thought this time I might try him out. I wanted to keep it bulky so I threw Roost on him but I'm aware that it decreases his coverage a lot. Outrage is Outrage, simple. ExtremeSpeed is a reliable priority move and Earthquake was suggested to help me hit Steel Types such as Jirachi.

    Ferrothorn @ Shed Shell
    Ability: Iron Barbs
    EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
    Relaxed Nature
    - Protect
    - Stealth Rock
    - Leech Seed
    - Power Whip

I was never a fan of Forretress because of its x4 weakness to Fire and I know this guy has the same problem, however he slots in nicely as the rain does weaken fire type moves. He can also be a nice surprise if anyone else is running a rain team as he can help to take out Water/Ground types such as Gastrodon, Vaporeon and Rotom-W. I needed a Stealth Rocker on my team so he does the job nicely, but I don't know whether to use Spikes or not as Protect is much more appealing to me to be able to stall out Leech Seed damage. Power Whip is Standard of course but the 85% accuracy does slightly worry me for the reason that I said before - my luck is terrible!
I'm unsure as to which item to use as there is the possibility that it may get trapped in battle the loss of Leftovers recovery could do more harm than good.

    Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Choice Specs / Life Orb
    Ability: Regenerator
    EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
    Timid Nature
    - Hurricane
    - Focus Blast
    - Hidden Power [Ground]
    - U-turn

This is the guy I want to use. I've not been so much of a fan of the Kami trio to start with, but these new forms looks so much more badass than the others. I particularly like Tornadus because it's just Flying type. I don't really know why to be fair, I just do. Anyway, getting back on topic, Tornadus-T is a bit more speedy that Tornadus-I and I have always been a fan of speed. Hurricane is 100% accurate in the rain making it clearly a staple move. Seeing as I'm running Specs on it I need to use some special moves which is why I went for Focus Blast as it is useful for coverage and Superpower would be pants on a Specs set. I never knew it could use Heat Wave and it has the potential to be very useful, however, again there's the problem that the Rain causes and makes Fire moves 50% weaker.. Therefore I have the other option of using a Hidden Power. My current Tornadus is one from the Dream Radar which I had the fortunacy of getting as a Timid Nature. However its Hidden Power is rock which is not so useful.

    REPLACED
    Spoiler

    Jirachi @ Leftovers
    Ability: Serene Grace
    EVs: 224 Def / 252 HP / 32 Spd
    Bold Nature
    - Calm Mind
    - Wish
    - Thunder
    - Water Pulse

I was thinking what to use in place of Espeon and Jirachi was mentioned and well I thought it would be a good idea seeing as I've had run-ins with Jirachi in the past. This is just the basic Wish/CM set and the two moves are to take advantage of the Rain as much as possible

I also had a thought that I may use this, it caught my eye while looking through Smogon. Only a maybe though
    Spoiler

    Gastrodon @ Leftovers
    Ability: Storm Drain
    EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
    Sassy Nature
    - Scald
    - Earthquake
    - Recover
    - Toxic

I really wanted to use Jellicent as it's one of my favourite Pokémon, but that would have given me 3 Pokémon weak to Electric and no resistances to it. I was also thinking about using Rotom-W but I'm not all that sure if it's a good idea.
I wanted to take advantage of my theme again and go for something bulky. Here it is. When I first saw this Pokémon I thought "What the troll is that!?" but with the useful move in Recover and Storm Drain's buff it makes it an excellent addition. If this thing had Swampert's bulk then it'd be better but beggars can't be choosers and this is what I've got. Scald = Burn = WOO. Earthquake is there as I've not got so much Physical Power on the team and if up against Chansey or Blissey I either need Physical power or the run button. <Insert generic despise for them both>
Toxic is Poison but with Scald I'm not sure if it's worth it, maybe Stone Edge could be more prominent although scald doesn't have a 100% chance to Burn.

I just want some opinions before I attempt to make the team, seeing as I want to try to do it the legitimate way and not just create them with PokéSav or something saying I'm "testing"
Any feedback would be appreciated but we'll see. I've never been that great at making teams and I do want to get better and making and battling and this really is the only way.
    Thanks in advance!

H.ey derp I got a timid tornadus-t also, but with hp flying yeesh lol I like this team, just a few points:
on dragonite run a dd lum berry set with dd/waterfall/dragon claw/superpower. Waterfall gets pseudo stab in the rain and hits hard. Superpower allows you to hit ferrothorn.

I would suggest LO over choice specs for tornadus-t. It'll allow you to hit hard and switch out allowing you to use regenerator to its fullest.

The only real threat I find with the team is to watch out for genesect. If your rain isn't up your team is in trouble tbh.

    Re: Attempting a come-back.

Ok, I thought that maybe Dragonite could do with some changing. Like I said, I've never really used it so i wasn't 100% on what is best for it.
Yeah, I considered the Life Orb for Tornadus, and if I'm honest i was expecting people to have a fit because of the lack of choice items, they were always staple and everyone was always adamant you HAD to have one.

I can see that's a problem and without Politoed, I have no other way to actually set up rain if it gets changed.
I've never been the greatest fan of weather teams (Mainly because I got trashed by sandstorm teams a lot.. :L) , however I've noticed how dominant they are nowadays and thought I should try one.

    Re: Attempting a come-back.

Okay, so I just have a few nitpicks and they are all based on personal preference and what I think works better, so it is all my opinion.

The first thing I'd suggest changing is Politoed's set because I personally never saw Encore as a useful move in the length of the battle unless you are playing against a Trick Room team or a set-up team. The first is very rare and the second, although common, is adequately prepared to deal with Encore since it has the potential to ruin their team. So, I'd suggest changing Encore to Perish Song because this allows Politoed to serve as a late game sweeper of sorts. Although it won't be actually attacking, it can switch onto your opponent's last Pokemon and ensure that you win the game if you can stall three turns. After using Perish Song, you just have to alternate between Protect and Scald until the timer runs out. Obviously, you have to have at least one other Pokemon available so that it isn't a tie.

    Politoed Moveset
    Spoiler

Just telling you what I would chose out of the options you had in your original moveset. Also, I'd recommend sticking with Leftovers because it is absolutely crucial that you try and keep Multiscale intact. So, this next recommendation may seem contradictory to what I said, but replace Roost with Earthquake because, due to the rain, Fire-type attacks won't be effective against the likes of Jirachi, which dances in the rain, and you will need something to counter it.

    Spoiler

Once again, just telling you what move I'd chose out of your options.

    Spoiler

Again, just telling you what I'd chose, mainly because Heat Wave is horrible in the rain.

    Spoiler

Personally, I never liked Dual Screen Espeon because it just doesn't have the bulk to deal with most common threats nowadays. So, I'd suggest replacing Espeon with a strong Fire-type Pokemon that can hit the likes of Scizor, Genesect, Ferrothorn and Forretress for an OHKO even in the rain. The only one I can come up with off the top of my head is Genesect even though it doesn't receive STAB. If I think of one later, I will tell you but, until then, keep that in the back of your mind.

No suggestions here, seems like a good idea.

Just something to keep in mind, as I said before, Fire-type attacks are essential in the rain but you must find some strong Pokemon that can give STAB to Fire-type attacks to make them effective. So, as I said before, I'll tell you if I can think of anything later since I can't come up with one off the top of my head.

You should probably replace espeon with genesect because you need a thunder abuser. And if you really want to keep spikes for ferro you could possibly run a jirachi with SR over espeon. Jirachi can abuse thunder too and with serene grace you have a good chance of paralyzing the opponent.

    @Derpinator
Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated. I'll definitely put your suggestions in as it's clear you know what you're talking about. It just sucks that my Dream Radar Tornadus got HP Rock rather than Ground.. Although I don't even know if its IVs are any good seeing as it's only level 10..
As for Espeon, I agree that I should put something better in there, it doesn't quite fit. I think I was going more for personal preference rather than potency with it and I should probably avoid that..
Heatran could be a possibility. I've always known it's a good Pokémon and it's a Fire type.. I mean there's plenty of coverage for it's Ground and Fighting weaknesses in Tornadus and Dragonite and I have Ferrothorn and Gastrodon who are bulky in case the former two are down and who also take care of the Water weakness so maybe Heatran is an option, providing it packs enough if a punch.

    @MikeD
I did consider Jirachi actually, maybe I should've stuck with it.. I'm not 100% what will replace Espeon, however I know I am replacing it now. Thunder is something I would like to slide in somewhere too if possible because like you say, it's a good abusing move.

That is what I had in mind but I haven't ever ran Heatran in the rain so I didn't want to take a shot in the dark and possibly screw you over.

I probably will have to do some testing with Heatran. May try out Genesect and/or Jirachi while I'm at it and see how they do.
I'll have to make another team for Espeon.. I just really want to use Magic Bounce to be quite honest :P

Jirachi is a beast in the rain and I also like Espeon's Magic Bounce but it is so difficult to use effectively.
