Smile Come Tear Apart My New Edited OU Team :D:D:D - 08-15-2008

ok to start things off i am trying to decide between to pokemon

one of which is Ninjask the other Bronzong

Ninjask (Jolly) speedboost
@ focus sash
Swords Dance
Bataan Pass
X-scisor
Sunny Day

176HP 252 Atk 80 Spd

or

Bronzong (Sassy) Levitate
@ Lefties

Gyro Ball
Stealth Rock
Hypnosis
Earthquake

252 HP 128 Atk 128 Sp D

as for the other guys

Metagross (Adamant)
@ Shuca Berry/Life Orb
Meteor Mash
EQ
Agility
Thunderpunch/Explosion

152 HP 252 Atk 104 Spd

Suicune (Bold)
@ lefties

Surf
Calm Mind
Roar
Rest/Ice Beam

252 Hp 252 Def 6 Sp A

Blissey (Bold) Natural Cure
@ lefties

Seismic toss
Twave
Ice Beam
Softboiled

148hp 252 def 108 sp A

Gengar (Timid)
@ Wide Lens
Hypnosis
Shadow Ball
Tbolt
Focus Blast

4hp 252 spd 252 SpA

Depending on the starter i may switch one of them out and put someone like rhyperior or zapdos in

The strategy with ninjask would be pretty simple. get the speed boost and hopefully a swords dance. if i get a TTR then i would use sunny day instead of SD and then go for the bataan pass for just the single speed boost. of course the pass would most likely go to Metagross or Rhyperior both of whihc are deadly wiht some speed and a SD.

Gengar is there for the potention for a sp. sweep
blissey can absorb most every special attack
Bronzong is there for some nice defensive support with Suicune as backup

i would like to thank Smogon for most of these movesets (if not all i cant remember)

have fun everybody and any suggestions are greatly appreciated (also some constructive critisizm is always useful)

Wow, it's been awhile since I've done one of these, let's see if FC's former best trainer can help you out =P
It's a pretty basic team, nothing wrong with the movesets, but there's not much support in your team, it's just a bunch of really strong pokemon thrown together, and even then, they're nothing special, since you got most of the movesets from Smogon.
I honestly don't remember anything from this game, so I can't give you any moveset tips, but if you want my opinion, watch some YouTube videos, see what most people use, then try to find a team that would be good in those situations.
All in all though, a solid team, but don't expect to become top dog with it.
A good example of a team, would be my previous one, I don't remember EV spreads for all of them, but it was something like this:

Gallade
Garchomp
Gengar
Blissey
Hippowdon
Forretress

I had a Choice Scarf on Garchomp and a Choice Spec on Gengar for quick kills, followed by a switch. Gallade was a good starter since he could easily take out one Pokemon with his moveset. Forretress set up Spikes and Toxic Spikes as well as Rapid Spin, Hippowdon had Stealth Rock and Roar, and Blissey was my wall.

See, what I'm saying is your team needs strategy to be able to really win battles, and although your team is pretty good, it lacks any kind of strategy, which might hinder you in some fights.

Of course, I haven't played Pokemon in a long time, so things could've changed since my time =P

^^Thanks Ajkid.

Re: Come Tear Apart My New Edited OU Team :D:D:D - 08-15-2008

yeah ive noticed that as well. i tried to add some extra support in there with the Ninjask bataan pass to Metagross or Rhyperior (if i use him) which can serioulsy pack a punch. I used to use garchomp but he was just recently made Uber (which im quite angry about but i completely understand)

i might try to bring in a shuckle or some UU guys back into my team. perhaps even my cursing umbreon

thanks for the tips.

Shuckle (Impish)

first of all, shuckle is not a really good pokemon, but a fun and unique poke to try ive been meaning to make a power tricker on it since it has the fun in it

And yeah, smogon movesets are pretty simple. The team needs to have a strategy all together, not just some good pokemon put together. Also, im a much better battler in BL tiers than OU tiers so, yeah

Re: Come Tear Apart My New Edited OU Team :D:D:D - 08-15-2008

what is involved in strategy? i mean ive used stealth rockers spikers and phazers before

i was thinking about trying some toxic spikes but i used to use a paraflinch togekiss so that really wasnt a very good combo

what other strategies are there...i know htere are sandstorm blizard dance and sunny teams but im not too sure what other strategies there are

ive watched a lot of online battles the past couple weeks and isee a lot of gyrados switchins and then switch to vire's for the boost. what other strategies have you guys seen?

are you kidding me? shuckle is a great pokemon and is one of my favorite pokemon

ive got 3 diferent ones trained at the moment and they all have successful and unique roles he can be a sp wall or a physical wall or even with the right setup a mixed wall

knockoff can cripple any pokemon's strategy and can even put a nice dent ingengar
Rest is a great move on shuckle because not too many pokemon can KO him in 2 moves (aromatherapy or heal bell is awesome with him)
Stealth rock is great support
Encore can be deadly if used correctly
toxic is great as it can cause great pain to just about any poke...excluding steel poison and resters

its really frail, with that 20 base hp, if im not mistaken. Also, i know its a good pokemon, but just not much of a movepool compared to the other OU pokemon. Thats why shuckle is in BL... i think... I dont like him with rest, coz he might be sleeping for 2 turns, then a good sweeper MIGHT KO him. But i see ur point, and this is just my opinion anyway :p

shuckle, quite simply, is the thing you send out once you've taken out the opposing teams biggest heavy hitters.
and it IS a beautiful pokemon, seriously, I mean if you get the opportunity to sub and power trick, that's one pokemon their team gone, or you could jsut toxistall 'em out of their minds.
it's also great support with knock off, and the ability to make a switch.
