You will see first off that unlike most monotype teams, this one does not utilize the 1 free slot rule. All 6 pokemon are bugs. Now this team has a ton of weaknesses, but has a way to combat each one of them. Its a fun team to play and has a good chance of pulling out victorys as well as a bunch of "OMG, I cant believe that just happened!" Now I am currently working on restructuring this team. So all the advice possible will be greatly appreciated! Please note Shedinja is a STAY. I love this pokemon, so please dont recommend dropping him. Thanks.

Yanmega - GreenDart
Nature: Modest
Ability: Speed Boost
Held Item: Wide Lens
EV's: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 Def
Moveset: Air Slash / Bug Buzz / Protect / Hypnosis
Yanmega is my lead, and he is one heck of a lead. After two speed boost nothing is faster. His typical first turn is a Protect, mainly just to ensure speed. Then he can put someone out of commission with Hypnosis. And start Bug Buzzing till he dies. I never feel a need to switch him out, unless he gets counter slept. What can I say... Yanmega is a beast of a lead.

Forretress - StrongHold
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Studry
Held Item: Life Orb
EV's: 252 Def / 252 HP / 6 Atk
Moveset: Spikes / Explosion / Gyro Ball / Rapid Spin
Forretress, is a physical wall with the benifiet of explosion and rapid spin. Rapid Spin is VERY important for this team. In fact usually determines victory or defeat. Forretress is switched in on a physical sweeper, takes a few hits like a champ, rapid spins away any ground threats, and switches out. Simple as that. Explosion is only if you know you have eliminated your stealth rock/spikes threat.

Ninjask - ZoomZoom
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Speed Boost
Held Item: Liechi Berry
EV's: 252 Atk / 128 HP / 128 Spe
Moveset: Substitute / Baton Pass / Swords Dance / X-Scissor
Ninjask is a staple assist pokemon. He holds a Liechi Berry which boost attack when he reaches 25% HP. He comes in and Substitutes his health away, in order to activate the liechi berry. Now you may need to adjust the EV spread, because you want to make sure that your final HP is divisible by 4. That way you are sure to get your berry activation after the 3rd sub. Now in the process of substituting and gaining speed boost every turn, you want to try to squeeze a few Swords Dance if you can. If not its not a big deal. Once the berry activates, Baton Pass to your sweeper. In this case Shedinja! Now there is really no reason Ninjask needs to ever attack, but just in case you have x-scissor.

Shedinja - DoomBug
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Wonder Guard
Held Item: Focus Sash
EV's: 255 Atk / 255 Spe
Moveset: Wil-o-Wisp / Swords Dance / X-Scissor / Shadow Sneak
Shedinja, my main bug, I love this guy. Most people hate him...lol. Ok so here it is. This guys point in life (or death I guess) is to annihilate everything! Now the EVs are important. Because only two of this guys stats matter. He has 1 HP no matter what, so no HP EV's. With 1 HP there is no point in defense EV's. Lousy special attack so we don't need SpA EV's. So that leaves Speed and Atk. Now with this guy hopefully you passed lots of speed and maybe a +3 attack (1 swords dance and berry activation) now you are pretty much guaranteed at least 1 sword dance once hes in. The first one will be as the opponent switches out to respond to wonder guard. Second one (if the opponent had to switch to hit you) will be when the new poke attacks you. Focus Sash will keep you alive giving you at least a +5 Attack (2 swords dance and Ninjask berry) Now time to Shadow Sneak. It is a +1 priority move so it will always go first. Now if the opponent has a priority move, all your speed boost from ninjask should ensure your going first. Now at +5 attack, Shadow Sneak OHKO's almost everything. So if you get to this point you can usually assume the game is over in your favor. BUT... there are some HUGE weaknesses you have to be on the look out for. Stealth Rock/Spikes both kill Shedinja upon entry. Sandstorm/Hail = Bad. Both spoil the fun and send Shedinja packing to a 2nd grave. Toxic or Burn both kill Shedinja. So you have a few threats to look out for before setting this up.

Masquerain - EvilFace
Nature: Timid
Ability: Intimidate
Held Item: Choice Specs / Choice Scarf
EV's: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 SpD
Moveset: Rain Dance / Ice Beam / Bug Buzz / Hydro Pump
Ok everyone's first words to this bug are "WTF?" Well he has a very specific purpose. After Tyranitar, Hippodown, and Abomasnow are eliminated he comes in to change the weather to Rain. Since rain does not do damage. Now his held item depends on what you think is more important speed or special attack. I use Scarf, to ensure i get rain dance off before this weak bug gets OHKO'd. Now if for some reason you dont need rain, this guy is a weak attempt at a special sweeper, but should not be used that way unless absolutely necessary.

Shuckle - Goliath
Nature: Bold
Ability: Sturdy
Held Item: Lansat Berry
EV's: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 6 Hp
Moveset: Power Trick / Rock Slide / Earthquake / Substitute
Shuckle is the ultimate wall a bug could hope for, shoot anyone could hope for. with a Def of 614 and a SpD of 559 not much hurts him. Now if the friendly skies are not looking so good for Shedinja, this guy should be Ninjask Baton Pass goal. If you can bring him in behind a substitute thats great, if not have Shuckle use substitute to allow you to set up Power Trick. If you get it set up successfully from behind a sub, any pokemon will be hard pressed to stop it. Now if things aren't going so well and you need a wall. Then just don't power trick. Shuckle is great for absorbing attacks from both the physical and special side.
Well folks there is my Mono-type Bug team. It has done very well over its time. Love it, Hate it, Build it, whatever. Just let me know what you think. If you build it let me know how it treats you! Until Next Time,
Redletters!
