The Role-Playing Forum: Rules and Guidelines - 06-25-09

I made a banner, yay.

The Role Playing forum is certainly an exciting addition to Friendcodes. However, I want each and every one of you using the forum to know the rules and behave appropriately.
Thus I make this Rules and Guidelines thread. :]

I – What is an RP?
An RP, a Role-Playing game (also known as an RPG) is a forum game where the creator of the game, or Game Master, outlines a story; the joining members, the players, create their own personas and post along to the story given by the Game Master. RPs done on forums are known as Play-by-Post RPs, or PbPs. Oftentimes the players are given their choice in what happens in the story, as well as the privilege to move about in the RP’s world somewhat freely, but the Game Master may regulate other variables in the game, such as the players’ stats.

Generally anyone can join in an RP, usually by posting their arrival somewhere in the story, or contacting the Game Master in order for the Game Master to set them up in the game. Of course, RPs differ among different Game Masters. Most RPs contain action (unless you want a strictly drama RP, which doesn’t sound too appealing to you FC members), so many types of RPs will use stats to regulate battles. Here is a basic example:

Name
HP
MP
Attack
Defense

If players’ characters go so far as to be a character from another work (i.e., playing Naruto in an RP), or simply have pictures or weapons that the players want to show everyone, I will provide a thread for posting your characters’ pictures, and so on.

II – What are the ground rules to playing an RP?
There are only a few basic rules to be held in all the RPs on Friendcodes.com; of course, the Game Master is free to specify any special rules in his/her RP.

1. The Game Master is King.
  • This basically means to follow the Game Master’s orders when in terms of the RP. Follow their rules. The Game Master is also the go-to person if you have a problem with the game.
2. No God-modding.
  • One of the most aggravating acts in an RP is to god-mod. God-modding can have a broad definition, but in a sense, god-modding is when a character has the ability to do whatever he/she wants in the games, including unreasonable and unfair actions. We’ll shorten it to these violations:
oBeing able to hurt/kill another’s character without the other’s permission
oHaving perfect accuracy or exaggerated, unrestricted power (i.e., being able to hit by 1000 when the others can only hit by, say, 4)
oBeing invincible and impervious
oTaking control of another’s character without the other’s permission
oIn some cases, getting goodies in an RP without doing anything helpful; this can be annoying and ruin the experience for the other players

3. Be nice to the other players, for the love of Corey.
  • There is nothing wrong with having an evil character, but being rude to other players is unacceptable. It’s also against site rules, so I advise that you don’t partake in any unnecessary flaming.
4. Obey all other Site Rules.
  • This should be simple to understand: follow the other Site rules when in the RP forum, like any other forum. That of course, means to leave out any dirty or offensive material in the RPs.
5. Have fun!
  • This forum isn’t for filing paperwork all day! Enjoy playing in here!

Re: The Role-Playing Forum: Rules and Guidelines - 07-13-09

I would also like to bring this other little notice up:
I'm very happy with how you all reacted to the RP forum and the activity currently going on in here. However, it would be nice to have more members active in here; then it'd really be a party up in this here forum. Spread the word out to your fellow members; invite them to join an RP, or make one of their own. I also made this banner in case any of you would like to wear it around the forums:

The code is below:

Code:

Be sure to make the codes all the same color, now.

Happy posting!
