IRC Server Rules and Guidelines

|
|
|
Part One: Basic IRC commands
|
|
Please note that all IRC commands begin with a prefix of "/" This tells the server to execute the
| following phrase
|
|
| I.
/join #channel
| Replace "#channel" with a channel of your choice,
| and you will enter the specified channel.
|
| II.
/part #channel
| Similar to join, except that part does the opposite;
| simply replace "#channel" with a channel of your choice,
| and you will leave that channel.
|
| III.
/nick DesiredNickname
| This commands allows you to change your IRC nickname.
| However, this commands will not work on the Java application
| provided by friendcodes. Replace "DesiredNickname" with a
| nickname of your choice to change to it.
|
| IV.
/helpop
| Helpop is an IRC service that allows you to get IRC help via
| a server database. Typing only "/helpop" gives you a list of
| helpop commands with which you can select a specific area
| to get help.
|
| V.
/mode #channel mode target
| The /mode command can
only be used by a half-operator (%) or above. Replace #channel
| with the channel you wish to
| use the command, and mode with a mode of your choice. The target should be a user's nickname.
|
| Basic Modes are:
|
+b - Adds the target to the banlist.
|
-b - Removes the target from the banlist.
|
+o - Gives the target Operator abilities.
|
-o - Removes the target's Operator abilities.
|
+e - Makes the target "excepted," or unbannable.
|
-e - Removes the target's +e.
|
| There are many other modes, which can be viewed with helpop, but these are the basics.
|
|
| VI.
/msg user text or
/query user text
| Query and Msg (Message) both allow you to open up a private
| chat with the user specified. "Text" is optional, but if you use it,
| it sends the message you replaced "text" with to the user.
| Alternatively, you can simply double click a user's name to
| open a PM (Private Message) with them.
|
| VII.
/me text
| The /me command lets you speak in third person. Replace "text"
| what you want to say in third person.
| Ex) /me says hi. =
**AltF4 says hi.
|
|
|
These are only basic commands, believe me, there are MANY more
| commands. I suggest Googling "IRC commands" or using helpop
| for a complete list.
|

Part Two: Rules
|
| I. The number one rules of Friendcodes is RESPECT your peers. This is a
| friendcodes sharing site, and we discourage rudeness and hate.
|
| II. Please do your best to be a model citizen. It is our hope that by acting this way, you can
| encourage other users to follow suite.
|
| III. Please do not argue with the staff. The staff is there to ensure your safety, they are
| only trying to help.
|
| IV. Do not use bolds or reverses (white on black) in the channel. It hurts the eyes.
| Colour is allowed, as long as you dont abuse it. If it is abused, it will be taken away.
|
| V. Do not underline words (Ctrl + u on mIRC) as it is just spam.
|
| VI. Please do as the ops instruct you. However, please note that ops
| will
never ask for your NickServ password. If they do, please
| contact an IRCoperator.
|
| VII. No advertising channels or websites. However, posting friendcodes.com
| forum links is okay, and instructing people where to go is okay.
|
| Another thing I've been seeing is PM advertising. This is not allowed
at all. I've
| even seen some staff do it. It is rude and annoying. So don't do it.
|
| Ex) Bad Use:

|

| Good use:

| VIII. To report problems with users, join
#reports, not
|
#ops. For IRC problems, join
#ircsupport.
|
| IIX. Friendcodes is not resposible for channels outside of Official Friendcodes.com Channels.

| Other channels are not endorsed by Friendcodes and you should only visit them if you
| know the person inviting you. If someone is threatening/doing other harmful things via
| PM, please contact an IRCoperator.
|
| IX. Do not ask to become an operator of friendcodes' channels. To become an op, you must
| be responsible, mature, friendly, an overall good person, and must
never ask.
| Asking only reduces your chances of becoming an op.
|
| X. Don't spam or flood. Spam is defined as anything that doesnt contribute in a positive way to the
| discussion.
| Flooding is equally bad, if not worse. It makes people lag, and... well... it isn't pretty. If you flood
| heavily, expect a five to ten minute ban.
|
| XI. Nick changes are allowed in
#friendcodes, as long as the nick
| changes do not change the root nick. You are allowed to change your nick for status reasons,
| such as away, eating, et.c.
|
| Ex) Bad: **Joejoecoolio is now known as I_AM_SUPER_COOL
| Good: **Joejoecoolio is now known as Joejoecoolio|Away
|
| XII. No offensive jokes whatsoever. This includes "yo mama" jokes and the like. Try to act mature,
| this is an all ages server.
|
| XIII. Do not use Tor, or any other Internet Anominity program. While we do believe your safety is of
| concern, people have been abusing it as of late. Also, if you have an open proxy, please change to a
| secure closed IP.
|
| XIV. There is to be NO religious discussion in #friendcodes or any official channels
whatsoever.
|
| XV. Foreign languages are strictly prohibited; however, if you desire, you can create a chatroom |where you are free to talk in any languages.
|
