Hey guys.

So we know what the internet is like. It's full of people ready to make a quick buck or to scam you into some kind of trick. Unfortunately for Friendcodes, being a large website with lots of traffic, we have some trouble-making bots registering to the site to lure in our members.

Recently, a few members, including myself have received a number of suspicious emails from people claiming to be from this site, promising friendship and pictures. Please do not be fooled by this.

If you ever receive a suspicious looking email, be sure to screenshot it and report it straight away, including any emails given for the Admins/Site Managers to investigate. Do not reply or open any attachments. If it is a bot, we need to act quickly and carefully to get rid of them.

We thank you for your cooperation, and urge you to continue reporting, and helping out the community. Rest assured we are doing everything we can to make sure the bots are kept under control and the site is safe from malicious threats.

Darn, I just KNEW you were calling for me!

Some of the more obvious ones will be asking for personal information, certainly, but some of these scam e-mails, particularly ones coming from actual human members, will be somewhat harder to spot, so be sure to have open eyes and an open mind about this.

You would need to be pretty desperate to open a message promising friendship and photos. I still remember the only bot I have ever come across :P. Good times.

So...if I get this right, someone is sending mails stating they are a friendcode mod, then they want you to download an attachment? How do they get our email addresses?

No... the emails will be from a member on the site saying they saw you on friendcodes.com and decided they'd like to be your friend. They will get your email if you have it set to display in your profile.

This has nothing to do with moderators or admins sending you emails.
