Why Dont We Use Items In FC Tourneys?

Why Not? I Mean I Know That No Items Show Skill But Cmon We Can Use Items Every Now And Then.

No official FC tournaments use items, but occasionally there are tourneys with items in the brawl tourneys section

BEcause it's a tourney, wher epeople want to win with skill. Not lose because some guy got a smash ball. You can still use them, and some tourneys use them, but in official tourneys it'd just be annoying.

I think that the sterotype that people who use items have no skill is bull. I use items and personally I think I'm pretty good, and I know I used to be good when I played a lot because I won a few local tournies (don't ask to play me, my internet doesn't play nice with brawl). I mean really, certain items like the bomb, smash balls, hammers and one hit kill items are cheap but I turn these off. Others like the bumper, sword and even the homerun bat can be easily dodged if you know what your doing and at the same time add an even deeper amount of strategy into the game, just picture this:

Player 1 is Falco with beam sword
Player 2 is a slow moving character

P1 trows sword slowly, P2 rolls to dodge, P1 uses the illusion (over B) and hits P2 up into the air, P1 then uses an upsmash to begin a combo.

Now if you can say that doesn't take skill theres something wrong with you.

Actually, there was an offline tournament last year that had items on, and it was terrible. Since then, ISP (item standardized play) was made, which I think is a lot of fun, but still not as fun as Brawl without items, though. And Brawl still isn't as good as Melee.

Because people in general will probably overreact for losing because of items, which I really don't get at all. Hopefully most Brawl players here aren't that elitist.

Well, i think its to solve insecurity also. People who lose with items on can use that to as a scapegoat to save their oh-so important reputation. And thats just plain annoying, so i usually keep them off. But sometimes its fun to have smashballs and the like on, as they do indeed add more depth to the game itself.
