Haha, I saw a flash video with that in it.
Anyways, I don't really like tiers all that much. I never truly understood why Falco and Fox were considered to be in the upper tiers of melee, when I personally was a lot better with other characters like Link and Samus and couldn't play as Fox or Falco to save my life. You could say that lack of practice contributed to that, but that cant be everything. I've done really well with characters I never practice with. You can get really good with any character if you practice, they don't need to be "top tier" to be good.
Some characters are fast, others are powerful, and either one can be good if you know what you're doing. Just because someone's fast doesn't mean they can always outrun a slow, powerful character.
Anyways, I believe in Skill more than Tiers. But for the sake of this thread, I'll name a couple characters that sound like they could be in the top half of the tier list:
- Marth
- Sonic
- Sheik/Zelda (Honestly, I find Zelda to be a lot better. But a mix of the 2 actually works great sometimes.)
- Meta Knight
- Maybe Fox and Falco
I dunno though. Kirby's been improved since the last time around, and so has Yoshi. Pikachu might also be a good contender, with pretty decent attack power and speed. I think Wolf should be up there too, he's different than Fox and Falco, but still pretty fast.
Keep in mind that all of the above is opinion, and is not to try and change your views or prompt you to argue your point of view at all. I just don't like the whole tiers thing. If someone can explain to me why they think that tiers are great (in a civilized manner, please =D ) then maybe I'll be a little more accepting.
*EDIT - On a side note, I bet a Game And Watch pro has an equal chance of winning against an Ike pro. I mean, they're both pros, so they would both know all the moves, weaknesses, etc. of their character as well as their opponent.
