Having problem with mains...

I've been through a few mains. Kirby, Sheik, Ice Climbers and Lucario.

Pick someone that suits your playing style. I chose Ness because he's a master of projectiles. Do you like to go close up to your foe and beat em, or play strategic mind games, etc?

I just felt around the characters, and found a bunch that I really like, Link, Fox, Kirby, Samus, Ness, Zelda, Olimar. So, since I play that many characters about equally, I never get bored with any of them, and I'm getting better with 7 characters at once...

I seem to be best with Link, so I use him the most. But there are some days where I'm awful with him, but mopping the floor with Samus, or Ness, or whoever.

Anyways... after getting raped, no lube. I developed a sense of using my opponents main as my own main myself!

This changes time to time on who I face, just recently I got my ass handed by my Dedede idol, Romeo (rank 14).

Now I'm using Dedede... Silly eh?
So it's almost impossible for me to stay with one main...
I sometimes copycat characters from combo videos, but that was Melee...

My tip for you! More knowledge = more counter picks, but don't take my word for it...

i had the same problem i ended up with 3 mains but the character i know im best ith is ike then it would be sonic then pit :)

Your exactly like me lol.... I wanted to main marth. But theres like nothing special about him. Then snake <---- hes just rigged. Then luigi hes awesome but very floaty. Then now im trying diddy.

try using an odd character that would never think u would use. because usually that person u think u would never get good may become your main, that's how i discovered my potential with OLIMAR and SNAKE.

Otherwise, you could always go main-less and mess around with everybody. May not be so bad if you learn lotsa counters for characters like a bunch of people are saying. *shrug*

simple just find a character you like.
i mean by this not a character your good with but a character you just like becuase its them lol.
Like i love lucario. even if i sucked with him or was good with him im still going to use him.
i may be ok with the ice climbers but no other character can replace Lucario.
