Re: How to tell if a pokemon is legit/hacked: - 2 Weeks Ago

i recieved a pokeman via trade that was listed as being born on a date thats ahead of my dates on my ds does that mean it could be a hack? Does it mean that the date was different on whoevers ds game and if its not a hack would that time difference effect my game?

Not necessarily, it could just mean that a person's DS clock/date was off when they bred/caught/whatever'ed that certain pokémon.

Earlier on this thread, I said I would research further into a whether the pokemon coloseum bonus disk can give shiny jirachis. Well, I bought PBR and loaded the shiny wshmkr I received in trade onto a custom card and tried to use it in wi-fi battle. It failed to go on wi-fi, which means that shiny wishmkr was definitely fake. For now, based on what more experienced gamers have said and on this personal experience, I am going to assume all shiny wshmkrs are fake.

I tested another pokemon: I tried a lv 1 giratina (faraway place) and it passed the test and I wi-fi battled it. This and the other lv 1s I got from the gts concerned me because they arrived with their special move from HGSS missing.
I read elsewhere while researching this that these moves are stripped out when these pokes are traded onthe gts. Can anyone with HGSS experience confirm this?

There has always been a huge debate over the legitimacy of shiny events. If you refuse to believe that they are genuine, nobody's going to stop you. But just know that there are some people who believe it is possible to obtain shiny events (ie. the Wishmaker Jirachi). I've heard personal accounts of people actually getting shiny Wishmakers from the Colosseum Bonus Disk as well.

That being said, neither PBR nor Platinum Battle Recorder are foolproof ways of hack checking.

Well, PBR and Platinum Battle Recorder is all I've got, since I'm never going to own an AR or use Pokesav. I really need to learn how to use Platinum Battle Recorder now that I have a platinum game card. Thanks for giving me that tip.

Any events pre-Ds have a different coding which can result in the rare occurrence of a shiny event on your gameboy advance games. ^^ but anyone claiming to have shinies of events after that are wrong. Especially a shiny Arceus xD
