Chances Of Getting A Shiny From An Egg

Hello everyone, I have a shiny female Spiritomb and a non-shiny male Misdreavus that I got off of the GTS, I am in the prossess of making loads of eggs, I'm hatching 5 at a time and I am on my third load and I haven't gotten one shiny. I have heard that breeding with a pokemon off of the GTS gives a greater chance of getting a shiny and using a shiny pokemon also helps the chances, since I am using both what are my chances of getting a shiny Spiritomb? I want to know how long this will take me.

the odds of hatching a shiny is 1 in 8200+ (cant remember the exact number off hand). if u want to do the Masuda method which is having a 1 in 2000 chance of getting a shiny, then u need a pokemon of a different language from ur game. getting a pokemon off the GTS doesnt guarantee of having a foreign pokemon. if u have platinum, if its a foreign pokemon, when u check the pokedex of said pokemon, there will be a foreign entry for it as well. hatching shinys is still a very long process in itself, Masuda method or not.

Actually, you can only get Shinies if the offspring's base stats are 10 all of them at birth.

serebii.com says if you breed a japanese pokemon with a english pokemon you have a higher chance of getting a shiny from a egg.
