It has already been confirmed that the game will have updated graphics, taller characters, increased clothing and house decoration, swimming, and much more.
Storyline
In the new Animal Crossing 3DS, you play the role of Mayor. There really isn't much of a storyline besides that. Interacting with neighbors bring no real story. Just strive to make your town better!
Gameplay
Gameplay in the Animal Crossing series has always been simple. Though in this game, you're not just a villager, you're the Mayor. It's possible that Tortimer could play a different role, but he has yet to be featured in any screenshots or trailers. You start out in a tent, and gradually make your house larger by paying it off to your landlord, Tom Nook. Along for the ride are your fellow neighbors, whom you play games, talk, and interact with on a daily basis. Use your in-game money to make your town better by donating and buying items. No two towns are the same, with personal touches and layouts.
Features
Like all predecessors, each game builds on previous iterations, adding new features and making exisiting ones better. New features include swimming, better graphics, larger flowers, flower bushes, added customization possiblities like hanging up clocks and other furniture, changing your pants and shoes, benches, sitting on tree stumps. Given that you are the new mayor, yellow poodle, Hisho (Japanese name) will be your be your loyal secretary. Former mayor, Tortimer, has retired to an island and will now run the mini-games. Existing features like the in-game clock, fishing and bug catching have already been confirmed for return in trailers. Like Wild World and City Folk, it will have online capabilities, which allows you to visit your friend's towns or vice versa. While in each other's towns you can chat, play games, fish, catch bugs, and whatever else you can think of!
