Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Published by: Konami
Developed by: Konami
Console: Nintendo DS
Release Date: (US) October 21, 2008 (EU) TBA (Japan) October 23, 2008
Genre: Platformer

Storyline:

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia takes place after Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, sometime around the mid 1800s. Richter Belmont, one the main characters from prequel, has disappeared, leaving no one to oppose Dracula (The bad guy) and his army as they bring chaos across the land. Several people form to battle Dracula, the most successful of which is the Order of Ecclesia and its greatest champion, Shanoa.

Overview:

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is the sequel to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night which was for the Playstation. This game was developed by the same people who brought you team Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. This game was called a cross between Symphony of the Night and Simon's Quest which were previous great Castlevania games. The game will have some new things included that you haven't seen in previous Castlevania games. There is no official site for the game so it was really hard finding most the information. D;

Gameplay:

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is a 2D platformer with RPG and adventure elements. Players have the option to equip armor and cast spells. There is a new combat system in this game called the "Glypha System", this system allows your character to collect "Glyph symbols", which you can obtained by defeating enemies or conquering challenges. These symbols can be placed either on the neck or the back, allowing her to absorb powers and skills like Megaman. :P The effectiveness depends on how the placement of the Glyph Symbols. They are supposed to be many types of Glyphs, I only heard of magic and weapon glyphs, I'll will update if I hear anymore information about it. If you use glyphs compatible with Shanoa's rapier, it can turn into a beam sword. nifty There are over 100 combinations. Glyph use MP so watch out for that. Players will be able to play in various areas from the forest to the ocean.

Features:

Let's start with the wifi features. Players will be able to trade items or compete against each other via Nintendo Wifi Connection. The game will make use of DS-to-Wii connectivity with Castlevania Judgment, which will unlock content in both games. If you preorder the game you will get this awesome case with a more awesome seal. I would show you but I lost the picture. My bad, I'll update this thread when I find it.

Cast:

There is not a lot of official information has been released about the characters yet but I will update if I find more.

* Shanoa - Main Character, uses a rapier as her weapon.
* Albus
* Barlowe
* Dracula - Main bad guy.

Controls:

Nothing official with the glyph controls. Players move Shanoa with the D-pad and attack with combinations of A,B and the shoulder buttons. I think players will solve puzzles with the touch screen.

Screenshots:

Can't have a Castlevania without a big sword.

That's Shanoa

Re: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

I never was much of a fan of the Castlevania series (too violent/sorcerous), but this actually looks pretty appealing to me. I might just pick it up this year.
