The difference betwen the Wii Number and Friend Code and how to find them

I get numerous PM's from various clan members asking how they can find their Wii Number to play online. I reply to every message with the same answer; a Wii Number and a Friend Code are both completely different things. Here is my guide to them:

Wii Number

The Wii number is your one-stop shop for socializing via Wii, allowing you to send messages, share Mii's and more. To find your Wii number, first click on the Messages icon in the lower right corner of the Wii Menu.

Next, select the Create Message icon in the bottom left corner of the messages screen.

Now, click the Address Book in the Create Message screen.

If you have people in your address book, then your contacts will be displayed. Click the (-) button on the left side of the screen. If you don't have contacts, you will jump automatically to the next screen.

Finally, we find the wii console number. This will be the number that you send to your friends so they can add you to their systems.

Friend Codes

Now, depending on what game you have, finding your Friend Code is different for each game. Most games have a Friends List or Roster where you can access your Friend Code to share.
If you are playing an EA game, you will be identified by a Screen Name as EA uses its own servers instead of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Yes, the amount of people not knowing how to find their Wii Number is amazing.
