Re: Brawl or MKWii? - 08-09-2008

They are both disappointing so its more of a question of which disappoints the least. Lets see.....

Brawl:

It was toned down for newbies and casual players. Button mashing will actually get you somewhere as suppose to in Melee where every punch and kick is vital and skill was commonplace. In Brawl, Veterans are crippled to the point where they are no longer playable and don't stand a chance against the newcomers, like Diddy K, Sonic, Lucas etc. A example would be Marth's charge B attack, which was replaced with a stab with no reach and sorry damage instead of the regular overhead charge attack. Another example is Links spinning attack, which was essential for Link to stand a chance because it made up for his lack of speed, was also neutered and replaced with a pathetic charge attack with slow charge time and minimal damage. I could go on forever, seriously. Don't get me started on the items, final smashes or terrible story mode.

M-Kart Wii:

Also just as bad with casual game play as a major focus. The "rubber banding" is ridiculous, especially in the harder difficulties. Winning in a game should never depend on pure luck. New items are laughably bad.

That said I would say M-Kart Wii is a better experience in the long term. Sorry for the hate filled post, I was waiting to get this off my chest for a long time. I've been a hardcore smash/kart fan since the beginning and it ••••es me off that Nintendo is mixing hardcore with casual.

MKWii-Although I play Brawl more, I don't enjoy it like Mario Kart. It's just not the same Smash Bros game I use to play and the online mode & single player is kinda garbage.

I have both but I play brawl waaaay more. I prefer brawl because in MKWii there are hackers now, plus it's all luck.

Mario Kart Wii

1MKWii- Wifi is REAL-TIME fast, you won't even know you're playing online!
1SSBB- Brawl's Wifi is laggy, unless EVERYONE has a super high-speed connection

2MKWii- People online can actually see your wifi score
2SSBB- Everyone's skill is a mystery

3MKWii- It has it's own channel
3SSBB- ...

smash brothers is awesome... until you finish the whole story mode. in melee you had to do tons of different things to unlock everyone. NOW in brawl, if you beat the story mode you unlock all but three people WITHOUT EvEN FIgHTinG TheM!

mario kart wii is awesome... forever. i haven't gotten bored of it yet like i did with brawl. i guess if i had people to play with me without lagging i would like it better. the mario kart did an awesome job on the wifi and it keeps the games re-playability at 100%

but if you're surrounded by siblings who could play smash brothers for 5 hours straight (unlike mine, who can only play for 5 minutes before they get bored), then smash brothers is better

Brawl is better. MKWii doesnt have enough player interaction. Being in first in a race is just like doing a time trial exept with random items being launched at you which I can get just as easily from comps. But MKWii has a better online setup and there is acutually some form of comunication between matches and wi-fi isnt as laggy. Exept for frickin coin battles and group ballon battles playing online is easier and keeps some form of rank and has MK channel. Brawl itself is a better multiplayer game in my opinion.

Mario Kart Wii makes you work for your unlockables. Online never really lags, online ranks are a plus, and I am just better at it.
sucks to be you
