Ds Passes 50 Million sales milestone, and still on top of PSP

Nintendo's pockets are getting fatter and fatter as its dual screen handheld breezes past the 50 millions global sales mark.

The relatively small island of Japan still leads the rush for the portable, snapping up 19.41 million consoles - more than five million more that the US, where 14.39 millions units have sold. 16.48 million units have sold in Europe and elsewhere in the world, according to the VG Charts figures.

While PSP still trails with just 23.37 million sales worldwide, recent weeks has seen Sony's console gain pace as Sony launches the slim version of the console - Japanese consumers have purchased over 300,000 PSP Slims in the three days since the system was launched.

Gumyaho's thoughts: Nintendo better be watching their backs, as Sony could start creeping up behind the DS any time soon. Maybe a new Ds......the DS lite lite?

I'm pretty sure the PSP Slim's gonna die fairly quickly - sexiness has nothing to do with the games on the system. It's fun to look at, but not to pick up. Like dead animals.

In any case, I'm glad to see Nintendo keeping a stranglehold on the handheld market - and climbing back towards their previous throne over all gaming systems. They've got a long way to go if they want to take out Microsoft, but they're doing very well so far.

The PSP is okay, but you can make the DS do anything the PSP can do through the magic of Homebrew. So, 2 years later, I'm still happy that I bought a DS.

psp stinks on ice. the games all stink on ice except a select few. that one guys write, itll die quickly.

I bought it... hated SWB for it. I hated everything about it except that it plays music, but it's really big and heavy so I hate that too. I'll just buy an iPod.

the ps3 is heavly wounded, hospitlized. i dont think it will ever get back up, its close to dieing.
