I'm just a sucker for cool-looking action  Also, unlike the previous games, the Pokemon sometimes run up to the opponent and actually slam into them with the attack. Always nice to see some clean, feel-good violence :D Sadly, it doesn't have an RPG mode, but battling through the different stadiums is close enough. There's also customization of your characters, from their appearance to what they say. And you can buy very useful items for you D/P games with the points you earn from these battles. If you've ever played at the Battle Frontier in Pokemon Emerald, it's sorta like that except 3D and cool :) And last but obviously not the least, Wifi. You can copy over your whole D/P PC Pokemon and create custom Battle Passes (which house your team and character) to battle with. On Wifi, you have two options: you can battle a friend by getting his/her friend code (which is what this site is for ;)) or do random Wifi battles against opponents. I don't know about the friend battles, but I know that in the random battles, your character says one of his/her predefined phrases, probably so someone doesn't curse his opponent out or something. This game can actually be very fun if you have Diamond/Pearl. Otherwise, your really only stuck using the Rental Passes, which aren't too great.
Final verdict: If you have Diamond or Pearl, and you like to battle, and you'd enjoy battling other random people from all over the world instantaneously and, of course, want to see some 3D Pokemon action, then get PBR. But if you don't have one of those games, it's probably not for you, since there's no story mode. It's basically an upgraded Pokemon Stadium or Collosseum without the RPG element but with some nice features to have more fun with your Diamond/Pearl Pokemon.
Hope that helps and I didn't contradict myself too much ^.^ I personally love the game even though it doesn't have a story mode like I was praying it would have, so I may be a tad biased.
