Storyline:
Essentially, the storyline of this game revolves around Sora's nobody,
Roxas. It goes into detail about his background story; all the things that happened before he was first introduced in Kingdom Hearts II.
A new character is also revealed,
Xion, who bears a resemblence to Kairi and can weild the Keyblade (Click Xion's name for more information, but beware of possible spoilers).
Overview:
From what I can tell, this game is very highly anticipated in America, especially with the new information being released about the English version. It was first announced at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show, and has just been released in Japan. The American release date was confirmed for September 29th at this year's E3 Conference, and the European release date is TBA.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is very similar to the PS2 games, an action RPG. While playing Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, you will explore a variety of Disney worlds in not only single- player mode, but also in multiplayer missions. The single player mode will be story based, focused on Disney worlds from past games, and the storyline will progress in days. In single player mode, players will play as Roxas.
358/2 Days also features new gameplay via the Panel system. Using it you can customize your weapons, magic, items, armor, items, and other accessories, as well controlling and powering up various spells you can use.
Features:
Multiplayer gameplay is separate from the single player story and will be mission-based, which include cooperative and competitive player battles. It will allow up to four players to play as one of the thirteen members of Organization XIII, with each member wielding different weapons and skills. Players will also be able to communicate using a chat system similar to Pictochat, except that all the writing occurs on one screen.

Confirmed characters are Roxas, Xion, King Mickey, Riku, Jack Skellington, Lock, Shock, Barrel, Oogie Boogie, The Beast, Lumiere, Pete, Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, Naminé, DiZ, and the rest of Organization XIII.
