Overview

In Scribblenauts, you play as Maxwell, whose sole purpose in life is to collect objects called "Starites". The game is designed to encourage the exploration of your imagination, with items in the tens of thousands for you to summon. It doesn't have much of a storyline, as the developers wanted it to focus more on the innovative gameplay.

Gameplay

The game is entirely side-scrolling, and controlled only with the DS's stylus. This game has a very innovative feature, however. Write a word, and you summon the object. Write ladder, you get a ladder. Write fire, you get fire. Write zombie, you get a zombie (onoesrun!). There is also a keypad, incase you have a particularly bad case of chicken scratch going on.

There are two different types of levels: puzzle and action. In puzzle, you would need to complete real-life tasks (such as breaking a pinata), and a Starite would be awarded afterwards. In action mode, you would need to maneuver around obstacles to reach the Starite.

Features

Can't spell? No worries! There's a handy spellchecker for those challenged in the spelling area, as well as a homonym buster (eg: tennis shoe/sneaker), and multi-lingual support for Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, French, and Spanish (so if you wrote fromage, you would get cheese.) You might also have to combine items to get through obstacles, such as tying a piece of meat to a string while riding on a raptor.

There are 220 levels for your gaming pleasure, each with a time limit for you to race against. There is a "par" for the number of items summoned (eg: if the number was 4, summoning 4 would be average, 7 below average, and 2 would be exceptional) as well as a max number. After you've discovered three different ways to beat the level, free play mode is unlocked, so you can summon all the goodies you want.

The Nintendo WiFi connection is used to share your levels online with friends (similar to March of the Minis).
