Are you the biggest Viewtful Joe fanboy out there? Have you been watching Yatterman since you could barely walk? Prepare to take sides when
Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate Alliance (
Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes in Japan) is released in the US. You'll be able to choose from an array of both Capcom and Tatsunoko's characters and battle against an opponent in a traditional 2D fighter style until someone gets KOed.
The game has been out in Japan since December of 2008, but due to various licensing problems surrounding the characters, it's taken them a while to work around them and bring this game to the states.

Gameplay:
If you've ever played games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, you're familiar with the setup of an arcade-style fighter like Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Instead of the usual 2D environment, however, the game sports a "2.5D" setting, combining 3D backgrounds and character models while keeping the traditional 2D gameplay.
Unlike other fighting titles, the attack system is very simplistic. You have 3 options: weak, medium, and strong attacks. Using these, you and a partner must deplete the health bars of the opposing team while sustaining your own by switching out to heal.
You can use the Wiimote, Wiimote + Nunchuck, Classic Controller, or Gamecube controller to play.
The modes of gameplay are as follows:
- VS Mode: Play against a friend in 2 player mode.
- Time Attack: Objective is to defeat every character in the game in the shortest amount of time possible.
- Survival: Again, defeat every character, but your health bar regeneration is limited.
- Arcade: Player faces a series of battles against CPUs until they reach the final boss, Yami.
