yes you can keep your pokemon on there and then you can transfer it back...plus if you put 999 in the farm you get a special Mew and before that a Manaphy (egg)

no....if you reset your data of all the pokemon will be lost....but you can insert mutilple cart data of your pokemon in there from Diamond and Pearl so your ranch will grow big
